Ashnaa (@ashnaa_ns) is a British-Tamil singer who is strongly influenced by her background in Carnatic music. She is an upcoming independent artiste, who enjoys collaborating and composing unique sounds with artistes from around the world. She started sharing her music through social media in 2019 and has gone onto perform on many stages around the world. 

In 2021, she collaborated with the virtuoso Sarod player Soumik Datta and a diverse community of musicians, dancers and artistes. This year, Ashnaa will be touring the UK in a musical production by ‘Opera North’ alongside artistes from both Western and South Asian traditions. Ashnaa is currently working on releasing her first EP that explores the genres of R&B, Funk, Carnatic and Jazz.

For jamspot, Ashnaa sings a cover of the hit song ‘Ey Sandakaara’ from the film ‘Irudhi Suttru’ (2016). Accompanied by Sathvika Krishnan (@saf.ssk) on the Keyboard and Ramanan Nathan (@ramanan98) on the Violin, the episode showcases a Jazz interpretation of this popular song originally produced by Santosh Narayanan and sung by Dhee. Featuring as the penultimate episode of the series, this one is assured to be on repeat.
