Introducing Pritt
South London’s Pritt (@urgrilpritt) emerges from a Tamil background which has influenced her expressive style. Pritt takes a pivotal stance in her art while strongly representing her culture & heritage. The Denmark born artist uses her femininity to tackle stereotypes of women and takes an ‘Eastern meets Western’ approach to her music; un-orthodox, honest and relatable lyrics coupled with Carnatic melisma.
In 2018, Pritt founded A collective: SOUL (@acollectivesoul), an events platform & gallery for creatives to showcase their work, network and a source of entertainment. Last year, Pritt was announced as one of 8 Future Sounds artists for BBC Asian Network and was the first Tamil woman to achieve this feat. She now has her own radio show on BBC Asian Network where she curates playlists and puts Tamil & South Indian artists on the map. Her 2nd EP Transparency has hit over 200K streams in less than 6 months and her 1st Tamil cover ‘Unakkul Naane’ is touching on 1 million streams.
